Steve Martin, CFP®, RLP®, MBA
Steve founded Purposeful Financial Planning (then known as Martin Wealth Management, LLC) in 2005.
He is the President, CLO, and CEO of the firm.
Steve graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a major in Computer Science and more recently earned an MBA (with an emphasis in Quantitative Analysis) from the Smeal College of Business at The Pennsylvania State University. He is also a graduate of the College for Financial Planning CFP Certification Professional Education Program and a graduate of Leadership Fort Collins.
He is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) ® and has completed the rigorous education, testing, experience, and background requirements for this designation. He is also a long-time practitioner of fee-only planning, meaning that he does not receive commissions on the financial plans or products he recommends. Without the conflict of interest that accompanies sales commissions, Steve offers unbiased advice that is always in the client’s best interest.
Prior to becoming a Financial Planner, Steve worked as a manager for Hewlett-Packard.
He has been interviewed by and quoted in many national magazines including Investment News, The Wall Street Journal and Financial Planning, and online financial management websites. Steve has had several articles published, including articles in Better-Investing Magazine.
He is active in the community, including having served as the treasurer of The Foothills Rotary Club of Fort Collins, a Director of the Alzheimer’s Association of Colorado, and as Chairman of the Fort Collins High School
Site-Based Management Committee.

Dallas has been with Purposeful Financial Planning since 2009. She handles client portfolio reporting, interaction with our custodians (including new account set up, transfers, and questions about your accounts), and invoicing and payments. She works closely with clients to make sure that all of the necessary accounts are set up correctly and to handle special requests regarding client accounts.
Jessica joined Purposeful Financial Planning in 2013 and serves as the main Paraplanner of the team. She is responsible for meeting preparation. She also assists in the research aspect of rules and regulations and other various tasks that relate to financial planning.
Jendra joined our team in 2014 and is Steve’s Personal Assistant. She schedules client appointments and will be able to answer most client questions. Jendra assists our team through administrative support, quality process management, and new client processing. She manages the practice behind the scenes by assisting Steve in compiling client data (financial and other) and preparing for client meetings.
Lydia joined our team in 2020 as Steve’s Project Manager. She handles our marketing, social media, webinars, website updates, Steve's blog and books, and various other projects.
