One of Purposeful Financial and Legacy Planning's key values is to support the local community. In support of that value, we will highlight a Northern Colorado charity each month. Additionally, we support that charity with a donation.
In a world where technology often takes center stage, fostering a love for reading among young children remains crucial. Larimer County, Colorado, has found a powerful ally in this pursuit: Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. This remarkable program, initiated by the legendary country singer Dolly Parton, aims to provide children with free books, opening doors to a world of imagination and knowledge.
The Imagination Library has gained immense popularity in Larimer County, inspiring countless young minds to explore the magic of storytelling. "Books in the home have been consistently proven to be an indicator of a child’s academic success." Since 90% of brain development takes place by age 5, this innovative initiative ensures that children from birth to age five receive a new, age-appropriate book delivered directly to their homes every month, completely free of charge. By focusing on early literacy and promoting reading as a habit, the program aims to bridge the achievement gap and enhance children's cognitive development.
To participate in Dolly Parton's Imagination Library in Larimer County, families must meet the following requirements:
Residency: The child must be a resident of Larimer County, Colorado.
Age: The program is open to children from birth to age five.
The launch of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library in Larimer County was announced on the Poudre Libraries' blog in September 2022. Thanks to the collaboration between the Poudre River Public Library District and United Way of Larimer County, families can easily sign up for the program by going to: https://uwaylc.org/ImaginationLibrary/ .

When I heard about the imagination library, I was inspired. I have a strong belief in the power of reading to enrich the minds and imaginations of children. Reading is powerful. I strongly support anything that can get more books into the hands of more children. This is a charity that changes lives. (And I am a Dolly Parton fan – and appreciate her efforts to change the world of so many people).
Together, let us celebrate the power of reading and continue to unlock the boundless potential within every child's imagination.
