Local Charity Highlight - Junior League Career Closet

One of Purposeful Financial and Legacy Planning's key values is to support the local community. In support of that value, we will highlight a Northern Colorado charity each month. Additionally, we support that charity with a donation.

This month we are highlighting the Junior League Career Closet in Fort Collins, CO. The Career Closet is run by passionate Junior League volunteers with a goal of "providing clothing appropriate for work and school to more than 300 women annually at no cost to them, in an effort to help clients achieve economic independence."

Recognizing the significant role appearance plays in making positive first impressions during job interviews and career fairs, the Junior League Career Closet provides individuals with various clothing options, enabling job seekers to exude confidence and professionalism. According to a Coloradoan article, women can visit the closet up to four times per year.

Operating exclusively on an appointment basis, each client at the Career Closet receives a personalized, private, and complimentary shopping experience in a boutique environment. They ensure that women are equipped with professional attire, as well as shoes and accessories, suitable for interviews, new jobs, or daily wear. The primary focus is to offer flattering and appropriate garments that enable clients to present themselves effectively. This service not only helps individuals dress for success but also boosts their self-esteem.

The operation of the Career Closet is carried out by dedicated volunteers who diligently collect, organize, and maintain the clothing inventory. These volunteers also serve as stylists, providing assistance to the clients. The vast majority of items available are generously donated.

For more information on donating or volunteering at the Junior League Career Closet, email careercloset@jlfortcollins.org or visit their website here.
