Local Charity Highlight - Murphy Center and Homeward Alliance

One of Purposeful Financial and Legacy Planning's key values is to support the local community. In support of that value, we will highlight a Northern Colorado charity each month. Additionally, we support that charity with a donation.

This month we are highlighting The Murphy Center of Hope, "a collaboration between 20 independent agencies and countless community partners that offer an array of services for individuals and families who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless." Founded in 2009, the Murphy Center was the first of its kind in northern Colorado - a type of "one-stop shop" for those facing homelessness. The center serves three primary functions in the local community today:

  • "It is the hub of services for people who face homelessness or housing instability—one location in which 20 organizations offer more than 40 services to nearly 3,000 people each year.

  • It provides core human services, such as year-round morning shelter, laundry, showers, mail, computers, and phones.

  • It is a key source of actionable data for the region and essential to the community’s plans to make homelessness rare, short-lived, and non-recurring."

The Murphy Center is managed by Homeward Alliance, a non-profit organization that operates a range of programs and initiatives for families, adults, and seniors, such as basic needs, housing-focused case management, behavioral health, and employment services. Homeward Alliance's mission is "to empower individuals and families who face homelessness to survive, move forward, and thrive.
